Next-gen BESS design: Energy density, and the logistics headache

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are growing: both in popularity and in sheer size. As demand rises and units expand to 6 MWh and beyond in a single container, the sheer weight of these high-density systems is becoming a logistical problem. Often overlooked, this physical growth is testing the limits of port equipment and road infrastructure globally.

In this webinar, we will hear from Rongjie Energy, a vertically integrated manufacturer under the Youngy Group, about their development of high-capacity storage solutions. The session will focus on the company’s product roadmap and how Chinese suppliers are engineering new solutions to navigate the balance between energy-dense solutions and OpEx decisions and CapEx costs, while ensuring products can actually be transported to overseas markets.

Moreover, as container capacity density increases, effective thermal dissipation becomes more important. Rongjie will outline how its immersion liquid-cooling pack was developed to address these issues, including the design principles and early application examples.

Rongjie Energy will detail design considerations behind non-standard container sizes and its own careful strategy to move toward 4.6 MWh and 5 MWh units.

In this pv magazine webinar:

  • BESS Roadmap: Following the company’s transition and the wider move toward 5 MWh+ DC-centralized systems.
  • Weight Challenge: Analyzing the risks of overweight containers in standard shipping, from port to project site.
  • New Products: A showcase of Rongjie Energy’s upcoming 4.6 MWh non-standard container designed to balance high energy density with land transportation requirements.
  • New Development: An overview of Rongjie’s immersion liquid-cooling pack and its application in the company’s outdoor cabinet.
  • Q&A

Questions can be submitted beforehand or during the webinar through a chat window.

Tristan Rayner will be the moderator of this webinar.
